1. Overview

This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions for requesting refunds for paid subscriptions to MyResearchHome web application. We strive to provide excellent service and value, and we want you to be satisfied with your subscription. This policy applies specifically to the web application version of MyResearchHome.

2. Free Trial Period

We offer a 14-day free trial for Premium and Professional subscription plans. During the free trial period:

  • You have full access to all features of your selected plan
  • No payment is required to start the trial
  • You can cancel at any time before the trial ends without being charged
  • If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be automatically charged for your subscription
  • You will receive an email reminder 3 days before your trial ends

3. Refund Eligibility

3.1 Monthly Subscriptions

For monthly subscription plans (Premium and Professional):

  • First-time subscribers: If you are not satisfied with the service within the first 7 days after your initial payment, you may request a full refund
  • Renewal charges: Monthly renewal charges are non-refundable. If you wish to cancel, you can do so before your next billing date to avoid future charges
  • Technical issues: If you experience significant technical issues that prevent you from using the service, contact us immediately. We will work to resolve the issue and may provide a refund or credit at our discretion

3.2 Annual Subscriptions

For annual subscription plans (Premium and Professional):

  • First-time subscribers: If you are not satisfied with the service within the first 30 days after your initial payment, you may request a full refund
  • After 30 days: Annual subscriptions are non-refundable after the first 30 days. You may cancel to prevent automatic renewal, and you will retain access until the end of your paid period
  • Pro-rated refunds: We do not offer pro-rated refunds for unused portions of annual subscriptions

4. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds will NOT be provided in the following situations:

  • You did not utilize the free trial period before purchasing
  • You forgot to cancel before the renewal date
  • You changed your mind after the refund eligibility period
  • You purchased by mistake but did not request a refund within the eligibility period
  • Your account was terminated due to violation of our Terms of Service
  • You are requesting a refund for a previously refunded subscription
  • Downgrading from a higher tier to a lower tier (the difference is non-refundable)

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact Support: Email our support team at support@myresearchhome.site with the subject line "Refund Request"
  2. Provide Information: Include your account email, order/transaction ID, and a brief explanation of why you are requesting a refund
  3. Verification: Our team will verify your account and refund eligibility
  4. Processing: If approved, refunds are typically processed within 5-7 business days
  5. Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation once the refund is processed

Please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your payment provider.

6. Refund Method

All refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. We process refunds through Stripe, our payment processor. The refund will appear as a credit from Stripe or MyResearchHome on your statement.

7. Cancellation vs. Refund

It's important to understand the difference between cancellation and refund:

  • Cancellation: Stops future billing but does not refund the current period. You retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period
  • Refund: Returns your payment for the current period and typically results in immediate loss of access to paid features

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings without contacting support.

8. Failed or Duplicate Charges

8.1 Failed Charges

If a payment fails due to insufficient funds, expired card, or other payment issues:

  • We will notify you via email and provide a grace period to update your payment information
  • Your access to paid features may be suspended until payment is successful
  • After multiple failed attempts, your subscription may be cancelled

8.2 Duplicate Charges

If you believe you were charged twice for the same subscription period, please contact us immediately at billing@myresearchhome.site. We will investigate and issue a refund for any confirmed duplicate charges within 3-5 business days.

9. Account Termination

If your account is terminated for violation of our Terms of Service:

  • You will immediately lose access to all paid features
  • No refund will be provided for the current billing period or any unused portion
  • You will not be eligible for future subscriptions

10. Service Interruptions

In the event of extended service outages or interruptions beyond our control:

  • We will work to restore service as quickly as possible
  • If the outage exceeds 48 consecutive hours, you may be eligible for a pro-rated credit or refund
  • Scheduled maintenance and brief outages do not qualify for refunds
  • Credits or refunds will be provided at our discretion based on the severity and duration of the outage

11. Pricing Changes

If we increase subscription prices:

  • Current subscribers will be notified at least 30 days in advance
  • The new price will apply starting from your next billing cycle
  • You may cancel before the price increase takes effect without penalty
  • No refunds will be provided for price increases if you choose to continue your subscription

12. Dispute Resolution

If you dispute a charge with your bank or credit card company (chargeback) without first contacting us:

  • Your account will be immediately suspended
  • We will provide documentation to your payment provider showing the legitimacy of the charge
  • If the chargeback is found in our favor, your account may be permanently terminated
  • You may be responsible for chargeback fees

We strongly encourage you to contact us first to resolve any billing issues before initiating a chargeback.

13. Refund Abuse Policy

MyResearchHome reserves the right to refuse refund requests that we determine to be fraudulent or abusive. Examples of refund abuse include but are not limited to:

  • Repeatedly subscribing, using the service extensively, and requesting refunds
  • Requesting a refund after fully utilizing the service (e.g., saving hundreds of papers, generating many AI insights)
  • Creating multiple accounts to abuse free trials or refund policies
  • Threatening negative reviews or complaints to obtain refunds

14. Changes to This Refund Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified policy. Material changes that negatively affect your rights will only apply to subscriptions purchased after the change.
