1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MyResearchHome web application (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms apply specifically to the web application version of MyResearchHome. Mobile applications (iOS and Android) are governed by separate terms available in their respective app stores.

2. Description of Service

MyResearchHome provides a web-based platform for academic research discovery, organization, and analysis. The Service includes:

  • Search and discovery of academic papers across multiple databases
  • Personalized paper recommendations based on user interests
  • AI-powered paper summaries and insights
  • Library and collection management tools
  • Academic profile management and ORCID integration
  • Citation tracking and collaboration network visualization
  • AI-powered academic advisor for career guidance

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Subscription Tiers

MyResearchHome offers three subscription tiers:

  • Free: Basic features with usage limitations
  • Premium: Full access to AI features and unlimited paper saves
  • Professional: All Premium features plus Academic Advisor and collaboration tools

4.2 Payment Terms

Paid subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis, as selected during purchase. Payment is processed through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By providing payment information, you represent that you are authorized to use the payment method provided.

4.3 Automatic Renewal

Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then-current rate for your subscription tier.

4.4 Free Trial

We offer a 14-day free trial for Premium and Professional plans. No payment information is required for the free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, you will be automatically charged for the subscription.

4.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid features until the end of the paid period.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Resell or redistribute content or features of the Service
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Service Content

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content and third-party academic papers), features, and functionality are owned by MyResearchHome and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 Academic Content

Academic papers and research content accessed through the Service are owned by their respective authors and publishers. MyResearchHome does not claim ownership of any third-party academic content. We aggregate metadata and provide access to papers under fair use principles and as permitted by publishers.

6.3 User Data

You retain all rights to your user data, including saved papers, collections, notes, and personal information. By using the Service, you grant us a license to use this data to provide and improve the Service.

7. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate paper summaries, insights, and academic advice. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should verify important information independently and not rely solely on AI-generated content for critical academic or professional decisions.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content accessed through the Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MYRESEARCHHOME SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Any content obtained from the Service
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your data

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MyResearchHome and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which MyResearchHome operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
